Brilliant Bookshops: The Bookstore, Abingdon

Abingdon-on-Thames is a lovely town, full of history and lovely riverside walks. Famous for its bun throwing, a 250 year-old tradition which celebrates royal occasions, it has a claim on being the oldest town in England.

In the Bury Street Shopping Centre is The Bookstore, a lovely little independent bookshop which first opened in November 1998. A great range of books is on offer, including a lovely children’s section which is full of tempting treats.

The shop offers a very warm welcome and plenty of help if requested, making it a very pleasant place both to browse and to have a book-ish chat!
