Literary Locations
Special places linked to books and authors I love!
There are so many places which have inspired authors, poets and artists and there is something very special about walking in their footsteps.
Here are some of the literary locations around the UK and further afield that I have had the pleasure of visiting.
Wordsworth’s school
Hawkshead Grammar School where William Wordsworth carved his name on a desk.
Bletchley Park
Secrets, code breaking, espionage…the perfect elements for an excellent story all based in fact!
Wirksworth
Provided inspiration for George Eliot when writing The Mill on the Floss and Adam Bede.
Montacute House
The setting for Lucy Jago’s novel of the same name and one of the locations used for the 1995 film version of ‘Sense and Sensibility’.
The World of Martin Brown: Horrible Histories and Other Dazzling Drawings
The wonderful illustrations of Martin Brown!
Hill Top, home to Beatrix Potter
The lovely location where Beatrix wrote some of her best loved tales.
The Foundling Hospital
The place which inspired ‘Coram Boy’, ‘Lucky Button’ and ‘Hetty Feather’.
