Literary Locations
Special places linked to books and authors I love!
There are so many places which have inspired authors, poets and artists and there is something very special about walking in their footsteps.
Here are some of the literary locations around the UK and further afield that I have had the pleasure of visiting.
St Swithun-upon-Kingsgate
The inspiration for St Cuthbert’s in Anthony Trollope’s ‘The Warden’.
The Tailor of Gloucester
The little museum house in the building which Beatrix Potter used as the home of the tailor in her book, ‘The Tailor of Gloucester’.
Brideshead…or is it?
Castle Howard, setting for the 1980s TV version of ‘Brideshead Revisited’.
Milton’s Cottage
Where Milton completed ‘Paradise Lost’ and found the inspiration for ‘Paradise Regained’.
Mompesson House
Mrs Jennings’ London house in the 1995 version of ‘Sense and Sensibility’.
