Brilliant Bookshops: Waterstones, Bath

Waterstones in Bath is found on Milsom Street at the heart of the city and is, without doubt, one of my favourite branches of this bookshop. Spread over three floors, it offers a huge array of books on so many subjects!

Not surprisingly, my favourite section is the children’s department. Located on the ground floor at the back of the shop, this area is always full of inspiration and joy. Books are displayed in a variety of ways yet somehow the space feels uncluttered with plenty of room to manoeuvre prams and wheelchairs without difficulty.

They also offer a pleasing range of poetry books- something I often find lacking! (The above picture shows only a small section of those on offer.) The staff are extremely helpful and welcoming, ready to offer support and advice if needed, but quite happy to let you browse in peace!

The shop regularly hosts author events and supports the Children’s Literature Festival each year. A real pleasure to visit, I always manage to find something a little different when I visit as well as enjoying their ‘buy one, get one half price’ offer!
