Brilliant Bookshops: The Swanage Bookshop
Swanage, on the Jurassic Coast, has been a popular destination for families since Victorian times and it boasts a grade II-listed Victorian pier as well as a sandy beach. Visitors can still arrive by steam train on the heritage railway for a day by the sea, buying fish and chips from one of the many shops near the sea front.
The Swanage Bookshop is a bright, airy space, full of both new and second hand titles. Sections are clearly labelled, making it easy to find any area of interest and to quickly establish whether books are new or pre-loved. A great range of reading material is on offer in quite a small space!
There was an excellent section on local history and the Swanage railway as well as a great range of maps. The lady working in the shop was cheery and friendly, but allowed us plenty of space to browse without feeling watched! It’s well worth a visit if you are in town!
