Brilliant Bookshops: Topping and Company, Bath

Yesterday, I visited Topping and Company in Bath for the first time since they relocated to York Street. Just round the corner from the Abbey, this new shop is an absolute dream stop for any book lover- and not to be missed!

Light and airy, the shop opens out into a wealth of tempting spaces, bursting with books. From the ground floor, stairs run up to an upper level whilst towering bookcases on the ground floor can be accessed by ladders, reminiscent of the old shop and something all book-lovers dream of having in their own libraries!

As usual, I headed straight for the children’s department, located downstairs. As one book-filled room led to another, I was stunned by the range of books available. It is impossible not to feel inspired in this environment with its fabulous new book smell and hidden corners. But the best thing about this shop has to be the staff. With a lovely cup of tea, I was settled at a table to browse to my heart’s content.

The atmosphere is so relaxed and the staff knowledgeable and welcoming. Being on crutches, I struggle to carry things at the moment, but staff were only too happy to gather the books I liked the look of and bring them to the table for me to peruse at leisure. They even carried my bag to the lift for me!

I can’t wait for my next visit to this fabulous shop. With their comprehensive range of events and amazing stock, this is a brilliant bookshop not to be missed!
